Stuart Swanger is a reliability professional with over 25 years in the life science, food manufacturing, carton printing and facility service industries with various practitioner roles such as: Utilities/ Facility Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Process Engineer, Director of Maintenance and Reliability and Director of Operational Excellence. Recently, Stuart started his own consulting company, S&S Operational Excellence, LLC. His company assists manufacturing companies with implementing operational excellence and reliability concepts improving manufacturing efficiencies, eliminating downtime, reducing costs, improving maintenance programs and training/mentoring plant personnel. Prior to consulting, Stuart was the Director of Continuous Improvement - Maintenance and Reliability for Pinnacle Foods for 3 years. He was the corporate functional leader of the Maintenance Program and supported all 17 sites with various operations and maintenance challenges, implementing solutions to ensure process reliability. Prior to Pinnacle Foods, Stuart was with ARAMARK Business and Industry Facility Services for 8 years. As Director of Operational Excellence, he was responsible for establishing the standards and practices for the delivery of maintenance and environmental stewardship services across the Business and Industry Facility Services network. He also assisted with new business proposals. During his time with Aramark, he had experience with the aeronautical, pharmaceutical, food, finance, insurance, computer and automotive industries. Previously, Stuart spent nearly 15 years in the pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical industry where he worked for Pfizer, Pharmacia and other biopharmaceutical companies. During this time, he held a variety of positions such as: Director of Product Development/ Engineering/ Maintenance, Maintenance Supervisor, Process Engineer, and Reliability Engineer. His experiences have provided him with a strong working knowledge of the pharmaceutical operations processes by working in many facets of operations, product development, engineering, and maintenance. He has spent most of his time developing, implementing, and/or improving processes supporting or directly impacting manufacturing. Stuart holds a BS degree from Purdue University in Aeronautical Technology and an MBA from Michigan State University with an emphasis in supply chain. While at Purdue, he also received his Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. Additionally, he is a member of Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) and is a Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP). Within SMRP Stuart has volunteered in several capacities such as Vice Chairman of the SMRP Benchmarking Committee, Conference Track Team Leader, and member of the SMRP Certifying Organization Advisory Council.
