Jon is an industry leader in the practical application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to industrial and mechanical systems. He has been recognized world-wide for his scientific contributions to computer science and he has extensive practical experience detecting risks to equipment reliability and efficiency. He is the co-founder of Tignis that is monitoring hundreds of plants world-wide. Prior to Tignis, he was vice president and chief technology officer of VMware's Cloud Management Business Unit, responsible for the technology portfolio worth $1.2B/year in revenue. In addition to executive roles at multi-national technology companies, Jon is an experienced entrepreneur having founded two other startup companies. He is a former tenured professor of computer science at Oregon State University, and his highly-cited research work was awarded the prestigious 2010 ACM Software System Award for developing a software system with lasting influence on computing. Jon holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Minnesota.
